Newbie Trader "Reamed" In Card Store Trade

By: markdash - October 23, 2001

Lincoln, Nebraska -- Veteran Magic: The Gathering trader Stanley Wong completed a trade with newbie player Chad Smith, prompting Wong to comment, "I really reamed that guy right there."

Wong, who repeatedly requested he be called simply "Trader Stan," is a self-professed veteran of the M:TG trading circuit, having completed over 100 trades. Smith, on the other hand, recently took up the game after an introduction from friends.

The trade was initiated when Smith entered the Lincoln Games store on Sunday, October 21st, at 2:45 pm. Wong was occupying a table in the back of the store with his two trading binders and his "want list." After inspecting each other's wares, Smith reportedly said, "This Goblin King would go great in my new Goblin deck," to which Wong replied, "Yeah, that's a real sweet-ass card... want to trade it for this blue creature here?" as he pointed to a slightly worn Morphling in Smith's binder. "Sure," Smith cheerily replied, after which he left the store.

"I hate to do that to a newbie," commented Wong afterwards. Upon showing several people his new Morphling, he added, "This is going right up on ebay."
