Thoren Nervously Awaits Invitational Card
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Magic: The Gathering 2002 Invitational champion Jens Thoren said Tuesday that he was nervously anticipating a look at the art that would be used on the card that will be created in his honor.
"I can't wait to see what the picture will look like," Thoren said. "I'm more interested in seeing the art than I am in seeing if Wizards of the Coast will change the power, toughness, abilities and so forth.
"It's very important to me that on the card, I look like a normal person whose posture is not strange," he said. "In fact, if the person on the card must be strange, for storyline reasons, then it would be fine with me if a picture of a monster was used, instead of myself."
Thoren said that he has tried to make sure that Wizards of the Coast has access to a good photograph of him.
"After winning the Invitational, I sent them (Wizards of the Coast) a picture of myself. I made sure it was a straightforward picture, with my arms at my sides and standing normally," Thoren said. "I checked and double-checked this. I also made sure to check the address for sending the picture many, many times.
"I hope they received the picture, and I hope they use it as a model, and don't lose it," Thoren said. "If they are not going to use the picture, because they have lost it, then I hope that they will contact me and ask for another picture, rather than guess what my posture is like or what sort of stances I normally assume."
