Codenames Revealed at Wizards

By: hellkite - July 24, 2002

Renton, WA – A disgruntled former employee of Wizards (codenamed Postal) has decided to go public with expansion set codenames for future sets as well as many internal codenames of fellow employees and Pro-Tour regulars.

Postal has stated that, "I'm sick and tired of all these stupid codenames and the only way that it will stop is to go public". He later commented that "Mark Rosewater (codenamed Squirrly) is such a friggin' show off. Who cares about the next basic sets (bacon) internal name? If it was an internal codename - keep it an internal codename."

When we questioned Randy Buehler (codenamed Big Blue) about the matter, he just stated "Let's have a vote (codenamed Obvious Choices Only)". When pressed further, Big Blue just referenced us to Ben Bleiweiss (codenamed Heavy Right Ear). Heavy Right Ear only had this to say, "We've decided to do a codename week in early 2009. You will learn all of the details about how PTR got the codename, "Liberache". And let me assure you it's not from his flambouyant dresses."
