Online Heretic Claims "Judgment" Is Coming

By: dbuel - July 08, 2002

MAGIC ONLINE -- A brief commotion erupted within The System on Sunday when a heretical character captured the attention of nearby characters by proclaiming that "Judgment" would "soon be here."

The fracas took place within the Constructed Casual Room as the character, identified as Luther1517, began a disharmonious rant at anyone who would listen. Witnesses said the disturbed character claimed that "Judgment" would fall upon everyone in the form of a "seventh Magic set."

Scholars have accepted that there are only six Magic sets, and that this number is eternal and will never change.

Loyal adepts quickly moved in and silenced the heretic.

"The Powers That Be have blessed us with all six wonderful sets that constitute our universe: Invasion, Planeshift, Apocalypse, Odyssey, Torment and Seventh Edition," Adept_Toady said before a crowd of loyal characters Sunday. "And still, some speak their lies of a 'seventh set.' "

"Can we not build decks from Seventh Edition? Can we not draft Odyssey/Odyssey/Torment? Is this not enough for any man?" he said. "Why must there be a constant, diabolic yearning for what simply does not exist?"

The Seventh Set heretical movement dates back several months, almost to The System's Creation. The sect's core belief is that The System is but a shadow of "another place" called "Irl." According to the Seventh Set heretics, another Magic set exists and is for some reason being denied to characters.

This "other set" would be an extra set in addition to pre-Creation sets such as Ice Age or Antiquities, claim heretics. It would be playable just like the six real sets that actually exist.

In June, a heretic was apprehended in the Constructed New Players Room making statements that The System is "but a pale, weak shadow of that real place, 'Irl,' where real Magic is played and Judgment can be found."

That unnamed heretic was derezzed June 17.

"Now we see that by 'Judgment,' these heretics and unbelievers actually mean their 'seventh set'!" said Adept_Unity, a theological expert. "The idea that some sort of 'seventh set' would exist and yet be denied to us is nothing short of pure evil. What sort of sick mind can imagine that The Powers That Be would deny our world a real set; that they are that cruel, or worse, that incompetent?"
